We had a great weekend with lots of parties, I am astonished I am not tired, it was actually quite nice weekend. Now I have a crazy week ahead of me, I am glad things seen under control. Matty's birthday is almost ready to go, need to get all the little lollie bags ready and make some brigadeiro (little chocolate deserts, yum). My birthday is also all set, I will have a joint party with a close friend who also has her birthday this week. We are going to have a girls night out on Friday night, looking forward to that! It is also the last week of school, which in a way is such a relief for me, it has been a tough year for Matty and we didn't do so well, so I am looking forward to having proper holidays and start fresh next year. I have more to say, but not enough time :P lets just share this weeks free template based on Pencil Lines Sketch 165:

I wanted to avoid too much self promotion here, but if I can't post about my new designs on my own blog where else am I supposed to? hehehe

I created this alpha because it came to my attention there are a lot of people that can't use .abr files, and my imagination kit only had the .abr version of this fun painted alpha, so I made the png files available separately:

Noticed I skipped 2 numbers? Yep, still working on those :) The other two tabbed albums of the Kaisercraft range. Still need to get their new release, it is sooo yummy!!!

So, I have learned a lot this week and have created lot's of little things and you know how I always want to help people create or if I spend a lot of time doing something I usually share at least a template for people to be able to recreate what I did, like I do with the hybrid templates. That transferred to the designing side of things with Commercial Use products, I get so much satisfaction sharing the tools I created for myself with other people :) Here are my commercial use products:

I have used the brushes to create some papers and other things and it is FUN :)

If you signed up for the Kaisercraft newsletter you might have noticed one of my albums was featured at the latest one :) which was pretty cool. But there is something making me even more excited about Kaisercraft lately! They are going digi! Oh yeah, I wonder if they will come up with stuff that coordinates with their mini albums, that would be soooo cool! Anyway, you can find their first kit here. I did a little test drive and I love the concept, here is my page:

If they keep the quality of their latest paper releases, there will be cool digital kits coming our way, and for me that means cool hybrid projects ;)

Well, you can have them done with traditional paper supplies, I just happen to love some of my digi supplies so much I print them out to use on my crafty projects. This another one of those older projects I really want in my new blog :) I just love this big monogram letters by Kaisercraft, here is what I made with them, for my boys:

STEP BY STEP

1. Get a monogram letter (or two).

2. Paint the sides with acrylic paint and set it aside to dry (two coats are better).

3. Print out a sheet of your favourite digital paper and include some elements as well.

4. Cut out the elements and the paper

5. Add glue or mod podge to the top of your monogram and put it face down on top of your paper. Apply a little pressure and wait a few seconds to let it dry.

6. Cut out the excess paper with a craft knife.

7. Lay out your paper and elements on top of your monogram to have an idea of the design you are going for.

8. Add glue or mod podge to the top of your monogram to give it a glossy finish and to adhere buttons and other embellishments.

9. Choose some embellishments to be added using mounting tape to give more dimension.

The feature this week is special. It was a milestone in my "scrapping life". Here is my precious "first train ride" album:

First time I saw the train album from Kaisercraft the light bulb lit straight away. I knew I wanted to try this digitally. I didn't even ever consider going through the work of cutting each paper and photo to fit the album's shape. I even went out to Weston Park to find the train ride and take the photos to decorate my album. This was my first shaped mini album, and first proper hybrid album. I was so happy with the result I approached Michelle Coleman about making the template available to LDD costumers. I wanted to make sure other digital artists could do the same and wanted to save them the work of scanning and measuring everything up. I got much more than I have asked. Michelle Coleman ended up giving me a designer spot at Little Dreamer Designs because of it. Here is the template:

Not too long after that I decided to submit my album for publication and sure enough it got accepted. It was published on the issue 73 of For Keeps Creative Paper(Jan 09) and I was especially happy with the attention they have given it. Nicely photographed! Here is a peek (pages 84-95) :

Latest achievement of this little treasure was this week, and that is why I am showcasing it today. It won Scrapper's Choice of the Year 2009 for Best Hybrid Project (nominated). Made my day! Especially because it was with this project, which is so special to me :) Thanks for everyone who nominated me, who visits my blog, who has a peek in my galleries, you don't even have to say hi, your positive thoughts sure must be keeping my creative juices going :) Thank you!
