by with love by mushy 29. May 2009 08:35

The Mix it up this week is a colour combo challenge and the B is for boy kit from Designs by Lili fit the challenge perfectly. Here is my page:

Get ready to see many more pages with this kit, because I am completely hooked by it. This is another page using B is for Boy, I used one of my Playing with paper - set 09 templates:

Mix it Up - Mixer # 17

by with love by mushy 30. April 2009 06:08

Hello fellow scrappers, family, friends and ... curious people ;) Mix it up this week was brought by yours truly and I obviously had no idea what I am doing LOL but I have always loved the look of mixed alphas and I am just too lazy to do it myself so I needed the push. Here is my page:

IMG_9792 copy

The title on this page has a big mixture of chipboard alphas, sticker alphas, and rub ons.

and "just because", here is a matching page:

This collection is my "new" favourite from Fancy Pants: The Daily Grind by Michelle Coleman.

Thanks for stopping by, see you around :)

Mix it Up - Mixer # 15

by with love by mushy 15. April 2009 23:20

Mix it up # 15 is live. This week we had a fun play with background papers. The challenge was to create a base pattern paper without the use of cardstock. I thought this was a perfect opportunity for experimenting with transparencies, but I found them to be too feeble. So I got a sheet of acetate and cut it 8x8. I painted it with acrylic paint and while the paint was still wet I stamped with a round acrylic stamp and the effect was that the acrylic stamp removed the paint from the acetate sheet.

I also wanted to follow Day's sketch, and to make it MUCH easier on me I did the photo and journaling bits digitally, using the Back to Reality collab.

The papers coordinate perfectly with Fancy Pant's About a boy collection, so I added more papers, ribbons and diecuts from that collection, also the rough and tough buttons and Bright Alpha rubons. Here is the end result:

This was SUPER hard to photograph because with most angles you could not see the transparent effect. But when I placed it just next to the window it kinda worked:

Hope you like this page idea and play along with us this week :)

************************

I met a couple of online friends in real life today, and saw some of them for the second time. It is so surreal!!! Great thing but it was done in a bit of a rush so I look forward to having more time to catch up with them some day, and one on one would be cool too. But it was great while it lasted (the kids are too cute). Promisse to get some photos and pages posted when I get some time :)

Mix it Up - Mixer # 13

by michellefilo 3. April 2009 01:34

The Mix it up challenge this week is to be inspired but Dr. Seuss. Check it out here.

I also got inspired by the One Little Word Challenge this week, prompt word is READY. (I haven't had much time to play with the OLW prompts, I miss it)

I love Dr. Seuss, I use his quotes a lot and I have a couple of the books. The quote I picked is perfect for my brother, for this moment in his life. I missed the "?" in the title though, I should have "are you ready?" in there but got lazy LOL

I had the quote and the photos and started a very quirky page that reminded me of the illustrations on the Dr.Seuss books, but the page didn't go with the photos at all. So I had a quick look for more manly *cool* kits and I found this awesome "Back to Reality" kit at Little Dreamer Designs. It is a collab but I have to give credit to Lori that created the papers I used, she makes just the BEST punk/street/cool looking papers, love her work. Oh, so much talking LOL, here is my page:

I also used my Paper piecing alpha and star templates, and Jackie Eckles' doodly font (mm, I think I use this one a lot too).

Isn't he cute? He is single, you know :)

Mix it Up - Mixer # 9

by with love by mushy 6. March 2009 04:56

Mixer # 9 is live and this week we are using recycled materials in our pages. I think it is no secret I have a thing for cardboard. It is free and I looove the look. If you still have babies around you can use the many many nappy boxes you accumulate over time, or maybe just packaging from just about anything. In my page I used packaging from a Shutterfly book I received:

playtime (1)

Everything by Fancy Pants' About a Boy papers and die cuts, Fashion Sense Felt and pins and Doodles and things clear stamps.

Here is a are a couple of close ups (love close ups):

Love these FP goodies and the photos taken on the new house's backyard before the grass got dry from the summer sun.

Here we are starting a long weekend, tonight I am going to Luciana's house for hot dogs, tomorrow I intend on doing something with the kids in the afternoon since Alex will be playing RolePlayingGames with friends, maybe a picnic, but Lucas needs a nap in the afternoon so I am not sure... Sunday... dunno yet, maybe scrapping? LOL and Monday(public holiday here) I am going to catch up with old friends. Fun fun fun!

:)

EDIT: I am sorry some people are having problems leaving comments, coComent seens to be the cause of it. It is a free service which came with the theme of the blog. I don't think anyone uses it, if you do please let me know because I am thinking about removing it!

Mix it Up - Mixer #5

by with love by mushy 7. February 2009 06:18

Mixer #5 is up on the Mix it Up blog and it is all about BLING. I am not a girly girl and I have two boys so when I saw the challenge was to include as much bling as you can I knew I had to scrap someone else, LOL. So I took two photos I really like of my sister, that were taken a little while back. She is a little like me putting on weight and losing it all the time. So I hope she likes this page about remembering her inner beauty :)

Fancy Pants papers (Key Lime pie by Nancy Rowe-Janitz), bling by Kaisercraft and glitter and stick with it alpha by Doodlebug Designs (that was SUPER messy to play with).

Here is a closer look:

Mix it Up - Mixer #3

by with love by mushy 24. January 2009 06:36

One of the last things I did on "the old blog" was annouce my participation on the Mix it Up blog :) I am really loving the assignments!

So, Mixer #3 is up, what happens when an assignment deadline is getting close and inspiration hits in the middle of a Stampin'Up party? Improvise! So I stamped and created my own elements. Please check the blog for more info on the challenge and deadlines, and for some awesome eye candy, but here is a closer look at my page:

This is Mateus at a farm in Brasil when we were visiting our family, his T-shirt says "I had enough, I am going to grandma's house". Very appropriate :) Good times!

Thanks for all the ideas (comments and e-mails) about the gallery options. I have decided to sit tight and wait for hubby to code one for me from scratch since a lot of the options out there are not what we are looking for. It is hard to work with php on this server and blogengine.net is, well, .net (aspx) so I think my gallery will be .aspx. I had a look at what hubby is doing and I think it might work nicely :) We will see!
