Pencil Lines Sketch 165

by michellefilo 13. December 2009 14:38

We had a great weekend with lots of parties, I am astonished I am not tired, it was actually quite nice weekend. Now I have a crazy week ahead of me, I am glad things seen under control. Matty's birthday is almost ready to go, need to get all the little lollie bags ready and make some brigadeiro (little chocolate deserts, yum). My birthday is also all set, I will have a joint party with a close friend who also has her birthday this week. We are going to have a girls night out on Friday night, looking forward to that! It is also the last week of school, which in a way is such a relief for me, it has been a tough year for Matty and we didn't do so well, so I am looking forward to having proper holidays and start fresh next year. I have more to say, but not enough time :P lets just share this weeks free template based on Pencil Lines Sketch 165:

PencilLines_165_preview

and I got my Kaisercraft sponsorship pack in the mail, great stuff to work with! I think it even got a little of my mojo back:

enjoy the snow

by michellefilo 10. December 2009 15:55

I find it hard sometimes to scrap winter themed kits and photos when it is hot in this side of the world. But the weather has been so crazy lately I cant even tell if it is summer or winter. Scorchign days followed by rainy and cold days. No wonder everyone is sick. Anyway, got a photo of Matty out of a frame (cause my printer is still broken), and scrapped the great time he had at the snow fields in Treadbo using the Frosted collection by Michelle Coleman. I made this layout for the Fancy Pants blog:

IMG_7060

Here is a little close up of the title (Lotsa Letters chipboard alpha painted with a salmon colour and I made the "melting snow" with a white pen):

IMG_7064

The acrylic heart is also from Fancy Pants. Don't the snow theme and acrylic go perfectly together?

IMG_7063

and that snow man is almost as cute as my boy :)

This layout reminds me I have a great acrylic mini album to share with you, maybe next week and I don't get swallowed by all the commitments of this time of the year, I have 4 birthdays to attend over the next 7 days and that includes mine :) See you on Sunday with another Pencil Lines template (which I know will be ready because it is DONE hehehe)

Pencil Lines Sketch 164

by michellefilo 7. December 2009 16:53

Sorry about the late post. I had soooo many hiccups this weekend :) My Photoshop crashed, I had to go days without it, that's why I didn't have the Pencil Lines template ready last week. Matty got an year infection and stayed home Thursday and Friday, he is in school today after finishing a course of antibiotics but still complains sometimes, maybe it it something else wrong with his ears . Mom was meant to arrive from Brazil on Saturday but had to postpone her arrival to Monday. I have been sick with some kind of tummy bug, it has been going on for two weeks and it is starting to... bug me. At least I lost 4 kilos from being sick lol, a good side for everything :) Lastly, and with all that is going on my mojo seems to have gonne out of the window, has anyone seen it? I need it back asap.

Anywaaaay, enough about me and my unimportant problems, life is still wonderful and I still feel blessed so lets give away our weekly template shall we? Here is the template based on Sketch 164 by Melissa from Kaisercraft, what an honour to have her as a guest at Pencil Lines, love her work!

New Fancy Pants Release

by michellefilo 3. December 2009 21:49

Hi all, all ok here, Matty is sick again but started taking antibiotics and is on the mend, after being sick last week it was no surprised he got an ear infection. I had a busy couple of days with Alex's birthday, cleaning the house, being at Matty's school trying to break the air guitar ensemble world record, and other normal mommy duties including having a nap with my sick boy yesterday afternoon. My night scrap time has also been taken by Fei, my night elf hunter at World of Warcraft, so I havent been making much. Mom is coming to Australia to spend our birthdays, Christmas and New Years with us, so it is possible I will have a "holiday" of sorts unless she encourages me to create more instead :)

Enough about me though, I wanted to show you the new Fancy Pants Release:

Aren't they gorgeous? You can see some pages using these two collections on the Fancy Pants blog, including this page by me using the Frosted collection by Michelle Coleman:

Expect more pages with these collections in the future :)

Oh wow, what a week we had, happy everyone is finally healthy again and now I can try to catch up with all my commitments. Unfortunately I don't think I will have a release this week, but will start working on something for next week.

This week's Pencil Lines template is based on sketch by Anna Bowkis:

Hybrid Feature: Advent Calendar

by michellefilo 26. November 2009 01:49

Happy Thanks Giving! I am thankful today for my family's health, which is not 100% at the moment, but pretty close. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here but I wish we did, the roots of the celebration have nothing to do with any country but America, but the idea of having a day to be thankful is great. We get caught up on our daily lives and sometimes forget we should be grateful every day!  But I digress.

Christmas is fast approaching and I would like to share our Advent Calendar with you, here is the template I created last year:

mushy_hybridmagic15_preview copy

Some people like to have the "remaining days" till Christmas in the Advent Calendar, some people like to just mark the days off like a normal calendar, both versions are available in this template.

Ready in 3 easy steps:

1. Open up the template in Photoshop and add your favourite papers and elements.

2. Print out your project. You can use photographic paper if you are adhering it to cardboard or a wood base, or nowadays there is magnetic adhesive and magnetic paper available if you want to put this up on the fridge or magnetic board.

3. Assemble your tree and have fun counting the days till Christmas.

Optional

1. Print another copy of your numbers to pop them up. You can use a 1" circle punch to punch out the numbers.

mushy_AdventCalendar_04

2. Print circle elements or pattern paper and punch them out with the 1 inch punch. Use Glu Tack or any non permanent/re-positional adhesive to adhere these on top of your numbers.

mushy_AdventCalendar_06 mushy_AdventCalendar_05

Instead of crossing off each day, you can just remove the top layer, this way you can recycle the project and use it over and over again :)

Here is the finished tree:

Ribbons and brad from Making Memories, transparent diecut star from Fancy Pants:

Digital papers and elements are from a retired kit by Michelle Coleman.

Happy Scrapping! In the mean time I am taking it easy with the kids, now that every one is over the flu we need some healing rest. But I will be back on Sunday with the Pencil Lines template ;)

Alegria

by michellefilo 24. November 2009 23:00

Right now, sick as I am feeling with this flu, releasing this kit is the only thing keeping me up, otherwise I would not even have turned on the computer today :) I have joined up with the adorable and ever so talented girls from Boutique Cute Dolls. Ju and Kel are a pleasure to work with and the kit came about really quickly.

The kit's name is synonym to the feeling of happiness and represents this time of year for me, busy with a lot of birthdays, but happy. Without further bla bla bla (and also because my bed is calling me back), I present: Alegria

Pencil Lines Sketch 162

by michellefilo 22. November 2009 19:31

Hi all, how has your weekend been? We did a lot of celebrating over the last few days, and now we are exhausted and everyone is sick in this household. Lucas had a great time on his birthday and yesterday on his birthday party and Matty had so much of a great time this morning I had to take him to the hospital. His asthma was so bad even with medication I could not settle him down, poor munchkin. He is ok now, playing video games and ever so happy he didn't have to go to school, very different to the sickly kid begging me to help him breath 5 hours ago. I have to get control over this thing, it is getting scary.

Anyway, lets see him at his best? Dancing and twirling and being his happy self? Here is my layout for Pencil Lines this week, using Fancy Pants' Dancing girl line designed by Lili:

who said this kit was for girls? just the name! hehe

Here is his week's free template with sketch by yours truly:

I have a new release this Tuesday, but other than that might be a little quiet this week taking care of my boy.

Hybrid Feature: Round CD Calendar

by with love by mushy 18. November 2009 16:27

From my first CD album I thought about this calendar. Didn't have time to put it together last year, but this year I was determined! and I loooove how it turned out. This one is mine I am not giving it away :)

I already explained how to put together a CD album, and the CD calendar is the same. The difference is that you make two holes at the top (two to help it balance and stand on its own, but not necessary, one is ok too).  Just to make this a complete post about the CD calendar, lets go through the step by step once again.

Step by Step

Step 1. Create your page digitally using the template. Just clip your favourite photos and papers to the shapes provided. Alternatively you can use quickpages:

mushy_hybridmagic29_Preview mushy_RoundCDCalendarQuickpages_Preview copy

I should mention I created hole guides for the printed project, but only on the front layouts. I did it so I didn't have to align the holes in the back layouts (I only had holes on the cover, feb, apr, jun, aug, oct, dec layouts) Makes sense?

Step 2. Print the finished layouts on glossy photo paper, you can fit two on a letter/A4 sheet.

IMG_6403

Step 3. Cut them out. The template is the exact shape and size for CDs. I might add that, if you want you can use other round albums (chipboard) or cut out cardboard for a grungier look (I have seen it done, looks cool!).

IMG_6407

Step 4. If possible scratch the CD surface with sandpaper to make it less "smooth", and add mod podge or chosen adhesive.  Adhere front and back layouts to each CD making sure both sides are facing up.

IMG_6414 IMG_6418

Step 5. Punch holes with the crop a dile or using a drill. You do have to do one at a time so you can either create hole guides, as I mentioned above, mark with a pencil or use the previous layout as a guide to the next. Whatever you find easier. You can also have only one hole, which takes away the need to align the holes.

 IMG_6422 IMG_6423

Step 6. Embellish your calendar with real embellishments such as buttons and flowers. Lastly add the rings to the top (I recommend not adding ribbons as that makes it hard to flip from month to month)

Here is my finished calendar:

roundCDcalendar_02 roundCDcalendar_03

roundCDcalendar_04 roundCDcalendar_05

roundCDcalendar_08 roundCDcalendar_09

roundCDcalendar_10 roundCDcalendar_11

IMG_6563 IMG_6564

roundCDcalendar_13 IMG_6551

Buttons by Doodlebug designs, papers are my part on the Summer's Dawn collab with TaylorMade designs. The "real" embellishments are a must for me, but you can just have it all digitally embellished.

Once again the photos didn't come out right, but you get the idea. The white text is not that hard to read and March & April photos are not that pink, who wants to come visit and see this little project in person? ;)

I have one more calendar to show you, but only after I announce my new collab, can you guess who I am collaborating with?
